Our mental health needs looking after, just like our physical health. In the same way that we can easily slip into bad habits that affect our body negatively, we can just as easily pick up bad habits and neglect our mental health.
Practice Gratitude When things aren’t going well externally, it is useful to find things we are grateful for. It doesn’t mean you have a perfect life, it just means you are able to keep yourself positive and engaged, despite things going wrong around you. Exercise Just like your physical health responds much better to exercise, so does your brain. You do not have to train for a marathon, but going for a walk or doing light workouts will definitely help. When you consistently work out, it will lower your feelings of stress and anxiety. Acts of Kindness Doing things for others is amazing for your self-esteem. You could do something small like volunteering for a charity, giving compliments, or holding the door open for other people. Even though these acts are small, they make a big impact on other people’s days, as well as your own. There are definitely more habits that you can get into to build your mental health, but these are just a few to start with. Starting here, you can see the powerful impact they make on your everyday life. Our mental wellness will fluctuate, but forming positive habits can help make it more consistent.
